As the Salutatorian of APU American International Schools’ Class of 2026, Joun Sihyoun (Janice) has continued to distinguish herself on her international academic journey by earning admission offers from some of South Korea’s most prestigious universities, including Korea University, Sungkyunkwan University, Hanyang University, Sogang University, and Chung-Ang University.

Her achievement is particularly impressive considering that most of the institutions that admitted her are among the most respected universities in South Korea. According to the QS World University Rankings 2026, Korea University is ranked No. 3 in South Korea and 61st globally. In addition, Sungkyunkwan University, Hanyang University, Sogang University, and Chung-Ang University are widely recognized for their academic excellence, research achievements, and strong career opportunities for graduates.
Notably, the programs to which Janice has been admitted are all related to Communications and Media, a field she has been passionate about since her years at APU. This academic path will provide her with opportunities to further develop her creativity, communication expertise, and professional aspirations for the future.
Throughout her time at APU, Janice consistently demonstrated academic dedication, a strong drive for self-improvement, and unwavering perseverance. Her recognition as the Salutatorian of the Class of 2026 reflects her determination and commitment to achieving ambitious academic goals.
Beyond her academic accomplishments, Janice was also an active member of the APU Student Council for several years. She played an important role in organizing numerous school events and initiatives, including Prom, community outreach programs, and the We Care We Share charity activities. These experiences helped her strengthen her communication, teamwork, and leadership skills while fostering a deep sense of responsibility toward the community.
Janice shared that through both her academic studies and extracurricular involvement at APU, she experienced significant growth in her communication abilities, teamwork skills, sense of responsibility, and leadership capacity. These qualities have become valuable assets that will help her confidently transition into an international university environment.
Standing on the stage at the Class of 2026 Graduation Ceremony, Janice expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Trần Nguyễn Thy Bình, Founder and Superintendent of APU American International Schools, as well as her teachers and classmates who supported and encouraged her throughout her educational journey. She reflected that the guidance, care, and inspiring learning environment at APU helped her become more confident, embrace challenges, and steadily pursue goals that once seemed beyond reach.
APU believes that with her passion for communications and media, her commitment to continuous growth, and the skills she has developed through years of study and involvement in school activities, Janice will continue to excel at South Korea’s leading universities. Her achievements today are not only a well-deserved reward for her dedication and hard work but also the beginning of a promising future filled with new opportunities and accomplishments.
