ALUMNI MINH THU - KATHERINE’S STORY - “WHAT CAN BE ACHIEVED THROUGH HARD WORK AND DEDICATION”

Congratulations Katherine on being named to the university’s honors list last Spring semester. Alumni Dang Tran Minh Thu - Katherine graduated from APU American International School as Salutatorian of the Class of 2022 with a strong academic record and is currently studying at the University of Texas at Austin (UT) majoring in Chemistry.

The University of Texas at Austin is the flagship institution of the University of Texas System and is ranked No. 4 among public universities in the U.S. according to the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings and No. 43 in Best Global Universities according to the U.S. News & World Report by 2022-2023. It was one of the original eight public universities that were collectively referred to as the "Public Ivies" describing the most prestigious public universities in the United States, as a counterpart to the Ivy League, which is a group of prestigious private universities. As such, Katherine's time at APU was marked by an endlessly effortful journey to get accepted to UT Austin and is now named to the university’s honors list. The academic journey at UT Austin is undoubtedly a stepping stone for Katherine's successful future career path.

Katherine graduated one year earlier thanks to the College Bridge Program (CBP) exclusively at APU, which allows students to experience college-level study and take credits from prestigious US universities while still in high school. She also received many valuable scholarships from prestigious universities in the USA up to US$350,000 (approximately 8 million VND), yet she decided to choose The University of Texas in Austin to follow her passion for natural sciences.

Sharing with us, Katherine expressed: “APU is a memorable and important part of my learning and growing path. It is where I met my friends, and my teachers who were always willing to help me. It is the place where I made my most cherished memories. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Binh, who created this APU learning environment with many meaningful activities, facilities, educational quality, and opportunities for not only me but also other students to gradually achieve our dreams”.

Lastly, Katherine encourages her underclassmen: “Always try your best and actively participate in extracurricular activities to gain more experience. It doesn't matter what the results are, as long as you have tried your best, it is already a part of your success”.Once again, congratulations Katherine on your outstanding achievements.
