Leah Montano

Leah Montano joined APU in 2008 and devotes her time between teaching ELD and working as the English Language Development Department Head. Before joining APU, Leah received her license to practice as a health care professional and practiced for several years within the US Veterans Health Administration as well as in medical centers in Texas and in Florida, where she was actively involved in developing healthcare ESL curricula for foreign healthcare workers.

From 2004 to 2007, she worked in Mexico, Korea, the Philippines and Vietnam as an ESL instructor and curriculum developer for students studying academic English in preparation for the TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, USMLE, CGFNS, FSBPT, GED, GMAT and GRE. Leah completed her studies in the fields of education and healthcare in the United States and in the Philippines. She holds a certificate in TESOL and is a member of the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) organization.
