APU Prom 2011

Each year it is American tradition for juniors and seniors to celebrate the end-of-school year with a special dance called Prom.  It is a joyous time for students to take photographs, dance, revel in the year’s accomplishments, and eat a lavish meal with their classmates in luxurious surroundings.

Set at the Park Hyatt Hotel in District 1, the 2010-2011 APU Prom on May 7, 2011 was themed Arabian Night and featured middle-eastern style decorations.  As students entered the anteroom, they were greeted by smiling teachers donning middle-eastern garb, cheerful administrators and eager photographers. Students enjoyed conversation and snapping photographs amidst the colorful middle-eastern backdrop.

Upon entering the ballroom it was clear that students would partake in a night of glamour and glitz. The ambience was simply incredible. I felt as if I were transported on camelback to the Sahara desert.  From the decorations to the scrumptious buffet, everything was perfect!

The M.C. did a terrific job keeping Prom on task. He introduced musical performers and announced superlatives, such as most beautiful girl and smartest student. Finally, the music played and students danced the night away to booming pop music. Overall, the prom was a success with students and teachers all feeling exuberant because of the magical night.
