Are you searching for a new school for your son or daughter? If you are, we hope our experience in helping parents find the “right” school will be helpful.
As you seek out and investigate different schools you will want to keep the following in mind:
Quality Counts
There are three main aspects to the question of quality. First, is the school accredited with a professional organization outside Vietnam? Here are the reasons why this is important to you.
- Being accredited tells the public that the school is a trustworthy institution.
- Validates the integrity of a school’s program and student transcripts.
- Assures you that the school’s purposes are appropriate and being accomplished through a quality educational program.
Is the curriculum written and clear to visitors?
- Is it a child centered learning curriculum?
- Is it a challenging curriculum at all age levels?
- How often is each curriculum area revised and updated?
- Is it supported by new textbooks that are given to each student?
Outstanding Teachers
- Are the foreign teachers licensed by the country they came from to teach the students they are teaching in the subject they are teaching?
- What percentage of teacher assistants hold university degrees?
- Does each teacher consider herself to be a teacher of the English language?
School Atmosphere during your visit
- Do the teachers seem happy and actively involved with students?
- Are the student’s actively engaged in learning?
- Is the environment at the school (air, water, noise, dust) good for students?
- Are the school and the surrounding areas safe and inviting?
High Tech Equipment
- Are computer resources adequate in number and up-to-date?
- Are Smart Boards and other high tech IT resources in view?
